President's Message
I have received a lot of very encouraging words from a number of NARPM® past presidents and fellow members in regards to my presidency in 2010. I think the most exciting one I got was just after midnight into the New Year when I picked up the phone and heard Immediate Past President Fred Thompson, MPM® RMP®, on the other end wishing me all the best. I think he was just a bit too anxious to pass on the presidential reigns. Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support.
2010 is going to be a ground-breaking year for NARPM®. With our new types of membership, our 12 x 14 initiative, and online class development, we are going to see growth in our association that is unparalleled right now in the trade association industry. Where other associations are struggling with maintaining and/or growing their membership, NARPM® has consistently seen steady growth. 2010 will be no different; it will be even better.
When the directors and committee chairs got together for Leadership Training, we spent a lot of time developing our own personal mission statement for 2010. We acknowledge that the organization itself has a very powerful mission statement, “To support the professional and ethical practices of rental home management through networking, education, and designation,” and vision statement, “Indispensable to the residential property manager and integral in the governance, advocacy, and recognition of residential property management.” And, we will all work very diligently in seeing that our actions and behaviors are supporting these statements. In addition to these, the Board of Directors developed the following as their 2010 mission statement:
“The 2010 NARPM® leadership team is passionate about the vision to grow the Association. They will communicate this vision, empowering others to participate while mentoring and developing new leaders. A good leader Dares to Soar by example, always looking to encourage growth in the value it brings to the member.”
Every single attendee at Leadership Training has agreed to dedicate themselves to this statement.
I want each and every one of you to know that I am here for you whenever you may need something or have a question or two. Also, I can tell you that NARPM® has a wonderful group of directors/RVPs who will do whatever is within their powers to help you. Many of us will be visiting regional conferences and chapter meetings, so feel free to come up and say hello. As directors, we all know that we are there for the members. It is our duty to do whatever we can to make sure that you still feel that NARPM® is a good investment.
Vickie Gaskill, MPM® RMP®
2010 President
