This is a monthly report for the entire NARPM® membership from  National's Executive Director. This report will keep you up-to-date on  what is happening in and around NARPM®.

The  NARPM® National Office will be closed January 2, 2012, for staff to enjoy the new  year.

Effective January 3, 2012, the  National Office hours for answering your calls will be expanded to 9 AM – 7 PM  eastern time.

Did you get your dues statement?

NARPM® performed its first electronic dues billing in October. If you did not receive your invoice, please go to pay your dues or email chaptersupport@narpm.org.

Ethics Requirement deadline

The NARPM® Board of Directors met in December and approved  extending the required Ethics training until June 1, 2012. They had heard from many who  were not comfortable taking the online class and agreed to give an extension  through the end of the Regional Conferences. All Regional Conferences will host the current  Ethics class. You may still complete the Ethics course online.

2012  Regional Conferences registration forms can be  found here. Sign up early and make your hotel reservations.

The first Broker/Owner Retreat is coming up February 21-22 at The Orleans Hotel, Las Vegas, NV. A flyer with the schedule and registration forms can be found here. Stay for the Pacific Southwest Regional Convention which will be immediately following on Thursday and Friday.

NARPM® 2011 Annual Management Report

     
  • NARPM® signed a five (5) year renewal with OMG to continue  management services.
  •  
  • Determined that several chapters had not been set up properly so  working with chapters and the IRS to get these issues corrected.
  •  
  • NARPM® Board of Directors approved electronic dues  billing for 2012.
  •  
  • Another service that has grown this year is the Webinars. Thanks  to a partnership with PropertyWare and NARPM® e-chapter sessions with  Chairman Randy Halsne, NARPM® has brought education with outstanding  speakers to members. These sessions have also been recorded and will be on NARPM®.org by  the end of the month. They are free to members.
  •  
  • Held 5 Regional Conferencesthat were highly successful and reached over 550  members. In addition to these successful events, NARPM® was able to send a minimum of  $1,000 funding back to chapters.
  •  
  • Redesigned the Website through Visual Harbor in Virginia Beach and  the NARPM® Facebook page was designed through a partnership with Social Eyes  Marketing out of Idaho.
  •  
  • NARPM® smart phone application for the Convention was released  thanks to the partnership with HERO PM.
  •  
  • Used the NARPM® hash tag for tweeting about convention:  #Narpm2011
  •  
  • Set up a special grant program to help promote chapters to local or state  REALTOR® associations. Each chapter can apply for a grant of up to $500 to  promote their chapters to their local or state REALTOR® associations,
  •  
  • Ran  half page ads in IREM’s magazine, Journal of Property Management, from May-  October.
  •  
  • President  and Chair of Governmental Affairs Committee visited our Nation’s Capital and  partnered with IREM’s annual Day on the Hill Event.
  •  
  • Brought  in consultant, Mr. Paul Greeley, who was extremely helpful in moving NARPM®  through the process of looking at the function of the future Strategic Planning  committee as well as the Board’s interaction.
  •  
  • Approved  the development of an electronic process for the submission of certification  packages designed by OMG.
  •  
  • Added  4 new classes to the online inventory of the OMG online Distance Learning  module along with new courses on social media.
  •  
  • Brought  in a professional trainer for the NARPM® instructors.
  •  
  • Established  a CRMC® recertification application and process.
  •  
  • Worked  with International Members who wanted to earn designations, but were unable to  attend conventions.
  •  
  • Developed  a plan for chapters to receive financial credit for their members who take  online courses.
  •  
  • Developed  two additional grants for Chapters, one for participating in industry trade  shows, and the second for advertising in real estate publications.
  •  
  • Held 65 NARPM® Classroom courses and 189 NARPM® online classes were completed.
  •  
  • Awarded  2 CSS designations; 21 RMP® designations; 13 MPM® designations; and 5 CRMC®  designations.
  •  
  • Developed  2012 budget that was approved by the Finance Committee.
  •  
  • Rewrote  the NARPM® Code of Ethics and the Strategic Plan.
  •  
  • Surveyed  members on the highly successful Convention in Dallas, Texas.
  •  
  • Holding  regional call and planning sessions for the 2012 Regional Conferences and Broker/Owner  Retreat in the following locations:

    •    
    • South Central Regional - May 24-25; Embassy  Suites, San Antonio, TX; Chair: Leesa  Harper Rispoli
    •  
     
  • Worked  with the President and Legal Counsel on the sale of Rental Home Professionals  to Epic River.
  •  
  • Completed  an affinity partnership with AON Insurance to provide members with the  opportunity to sign up for a Rent Protect program. NARPM® will receive royalties  for helping with the promotion.
  • Distributed holiday special promotions to  members from the affiliates, via email.

NARPM® is adding more Online Courses

Do you have questions and don't know where to get the answers?

Only available to members of NARPM® are list serves to help you with your property management questions. There is a listserv also for business owners and managers where they can get company questions answered. For more information on these great services click here. You must be a member of NARPM® to sign up so please make sure you send your name with your request to join. Directions on how to sign up have been added to the site.
