Marketing & Member Recruitment
Each chapter leader and its members design marketing campaigns that are tailored to fit their area’s needs. In order to make a difference in your area. The first step is to introduce your chapter to the community. You and your members are the ones best qualified to think of ways to accomplish this! Promoting Your Chapter
NARPM® National Why Use One/Why Be One Campaign
Chapter Committee Projects
- Cultivate Local Affiliate Members – if your Affiliate Committee contacts local vendors and offers them an opportunity to speak at chapter meetings, they will in turn support your chapter. Look at the Affiliate Program Outline and Sample Chapter Affiliate Application.
- Ask your Education and Certification Committees to team up and generate a survey to find out what classes the members and non-members may be interesting in attending.
- Encourage the Legislative Committee to research and write an article for the local newspaper (and for the Residential Resource and your chapter newsletter) about pending legislation that has bearing on the property management profession.
- Challenge the Marketing Committee to design a brochure for your chapter that informs people about the focus and activities of the group. Involve the Membership Committee in the design process and include a NARPM® membership application.
Elevate Awareness and Educate
- Generate Press Releases.
- Produce and distribute a chapter newsletter. Invite affiliate members and other local business people (future affiliate members) to contribute pictures and articles.
- Become involved with “Habitat for Humanity.” Or poll your membership to find an organization they support that allows your chapter to perform meaningful service and make contributions to the community.
- Tie your chapter to events that your community values. It could be Earth Day, the Fourth of July or Memorial Day. Volunteer to help out. And it doesn’t hurt to send a press release and photo to the local newspaper afterwards!
- Give presentations at local organizations like the Chamber of Commerce.
Invite a NARPM® National Board or Committee Chair member to speak. NARPM® Board members are practiced at teaching people about what the association does for the property management profession and the benefits to property owners who hire NARPM® members.

Conventions
- Vendor Exhibits: Learn about new products and services while building your chapter’s affiliate membership.
- Workshops: Exchange ideas with others in the business and center on topics that have meaning and impact in your area.
- Speakers: Bring respected presenters to your doorstep and gain attention while your members expand their knowledge base.
- Classes: Schedule courses that inform and can lead to NARPM® designations. Remember that some classes may satisfy state requirements for continuing education, which is a tremendous service while also being an income generator!
The Logical Conclusion
Since you strive to keep your chapter activities varied, informative and valuable, you will retain the members that you have. And now that you’ve provided your members—and the community—with the facts they need to appreciate and value NARPM®, you’ve set the stage for your existing members to be your best recruiters for new members. And they will be compensated! Make sure every member knows about the New Member Recruitment Program
