May Chapter Spotlight: Colorado Springs Chapter

Its founding on January 10, 1994, makes Colorado Springs the third NARPM Chapter established nationwide. Among its accomplishments, the chapter was awarded the NARPM^® Medium Chapter of the Year in 2016 (see award photo below).

One of the main focuses of the chapter is education. The chapter runs a symposium every year and the 12th Annual Colorado Springs Landlord Symposium was held last February. With the help of their staff from Milestone Real Estate Services, Rob Lynde, MPM RMP, and Renee Lynde, RMP^® Candidate, put together an amazing educational opportunity. It was a one-day symposium, offering seven continuing education credits for Colorado licensees. This year, the focus was “back to basics” and the following sessions were held: Legal Concerns and the Courts, Fair Housing presented by HUD, Getting the Most from Your Vendors, 101 Hints and Tips for Property Managers, A New Lease on Life, Q&A with a Professional Panel, and Inside the Colorado Real Estate Commission with Commissioner Carolyn Rogers, MPM^® RMP^®.

The Colorado Springs Landlord Symposium not only offers great education, but it also serves as a recruiting event for non-NARPM^® Members. It is a great networking opportunity, along with a vendor show, and a source of vibrant conversations about the issues we face every day. This was the chapter’s largest Landlord Symposium to date. The chapter also offered the NARPM^® Tenancy class the following day and had a great turn out. This event is a success every year, thanks to the many members that volunteer their time to make it a success.

The chapter is very active with NARPM^® National and giving back. On a local level, we hold designation classes every year, a vendor-sponsored event, luncheons nine months out of the year, volunteer opportunities with Habitat for Humanity, and donations to Care and Share. We have many members working on their designations and have a goal to continue making designations a priority.
