February 2018

Another fabulous year is starting for NARPM®. Staff is busy working with the Chairs to make sure the strategic plan is accomplished and members are realizing the benefit of belonging to this great association.

Since we are in a new year, here are the top 10 things you should do as a member of NARPM®:

  1. Sign up for the NARPM® Discussion Board. Log into www.narpm.org with your member ID and password. Then click on the MEMBERS tab and then click on NARPM® Discussion Boards to find the directions on how to sign up. Please read the policies before posting.
  1. The Broker/Owner Conference & Expo is sold out. But watch for the Annual Convention & Trade Show registration to open. Go to www.narpm.org/conferences to find all the details. You will also see several state conferences throughout the country. Check out their programs and make plans to attend, as well.
  1. Start working on your NARPM® Designation. Courses can be taken online or in a classroom setting. Remember, you can take a course even though you are not working on your designation. You can check out the details at: www.narpm.org/education
  1. Read the Residential Resource when it is delivered by email or hard copy. The magazine is written by members for members. If you wish to see the latest or archived copies, log in to www.narpm.org with your member ID and password. Then click on the MEMBERS tab and then click on Residential Resource to read the current issue and the past year’s issues. You can also review all of the archived copies for past years.
  1. Educate yourself about NARPM®, its purpose, and what tools are available to you. Believe in the association and make sure that you use your membership as a selling point for potential owners. Check out the NARPM® press release templates at: https://www.narpm.org/press-center/press-kit/

Put the NARPM® logo on your website. I hope you find the true benefit of NARPM® that comes with education, sharing information, and networking with fellow members.

  1. Get involved in a local chapter. If you are not sure who to talk to, go to www.narpm.org/find/chapters-2 and find the one closest to you. If you don’t have a chapter nearby, watch for the NARPM® eChapter webinars that are for those members without a chapter.
  1. Use the discounts that NARPM® has through its Affinity Partners. They can be found at: www.narpm.org/about/member-discounts
  1. Go to the search directory and make sure your membership information is correct so you can receive referrals. This is one of the highest hit areas of the NARPM® website, so make sure people can find you. Go to: www.narpm.org/find/property-managers
  1. Get involved in your association. You can find ways through your local chapter or on the National level. Just ask how by sending an email to your chapter president or: info@narpm.org
  1. Finally, don’t forget to register and complete the NARPM® Ethics Course. All NARPM® Professional Members will be required to retake the course by the end of 2018 to retain their Professional Membership. This course can be taken online at www.narpm.org/education/online-courses/ by scrolling down to 3-Hour Courses.

I hope you find the true benefit of NARPM® that comes with education, sharing information, and networking with fellow members. Have a great 2018 and we will see some of you in April at the Broker/Owner Conference & Expo in Las Vegas; and we hope to see most of you in October at the Annual Convention & Trade Show in San Diego.
